I'm a big fan of autobiographies and taking a step into another person's shoes to get a glimpse of their life experiences. This book was written in a way that I felt like I was a fly on the wall throughout the whole ordeal. From cheering along at a basketball game and white-knuckling it during a car ride to laying down the law with the doctors and seeing John wake up after the accident... I was right along with Joyce page after page.I followed every twist and turn of this miraculous journey with a full range of emotions. I shed tears, burst out with laughter and more importantly was left with a sense of hope and happiness. I'm thankful they shared this story, which I know will renew/bring faith to those in need during the troubled times we live in.
You won't be able to put this book down once you start reading. You get an inside look at all of the emotions of a mom who knows and loves both her God and her son and knows what both are capable of as in desperation and in faith she calls out to God and He responds by performing miracle after miracle for her son, bringing him back from the dead and fully restoring him. This story will bring the miracles of the Bible to life like you've never experienced before. God is still doing what He did back then.
I read this book in a 48 hour period and cried my way through most of it. The words in this book were so close to my heart because they were so closely aligned with and spoke the truth of my own best friend’s drowning and resurrection. I hesitated to write this review because this felt so deeply personal. But if you’re reading this and still doubting, Joyce Smith is correct. God is exactly who He says He is and fully capable of doing what He says He can do. Amen.
An amazing story written by an awesome author. I was intrigued when I heard of the story but now to have it come alive, as if I were there living it out, on the pages of the book. This book brings about an everlasting hope that reminds us that nothing is impossible with God and the power of prayer is alive and true. This a must read book!
Joyce has always been a wonderful storyteller and I really wanted to keep reading. I felt like she was talking to me. This book was hard to put down.I love this book. Schedule 2 days to read.
All of the cliche’ words don’t even come close to describing this book—“amazing†“heart-pounding “ “miraculous “. I was moved at each and every step. I was shaken, stirred and moved beyond anything I could describe. The author nailed the true essence of the story. This shows you what the combination of a mother’s love and unshakable faith can do !!! Joyce happens to be a personal friend —she’s the real deal. She’s not about selling books, she has an amazing story to tell and is eager to share her limitless God. There are no boundaries! Anything can and will happen if you allow yourself to believe —she proves that . Read the book and next year, go see the movie!
Excellent book! I lived and worked at the Children's Hospital, in St Louis, several years ago so this true story had an amazing impact on me. God is in the healing business today! I have given copies of The Impossible to several people to read, and to have faith through difficult situations.
An incredible read about the power of prayer faith and love during a tragic event. Truly, a remarkable story. As a former ER nurse, I have witnessed amazing recovery but, never anything like Johns amazing healing. I highly recommend this to all my friends and family. A great reminder of the power that only a sovereign God can bestow when we believe in Him.
