The book makes good points in many areas applicable to beginners or those who haven't grasped the basics of business profit & loss/markup/overhead, scheduling, etc. Those who have these concepts down may feel disappointed.
I loved everything about this book, I could not put it down!I felt Vicki's passion with every word, I highly recommend the book to anyone that loves and craves knowledge.
It's always hard to figure out how to make a profit AFTER the job is done. There's some real valuable advice for how to get it right before you ever hammer a nail. Great stuff.
Vicki is able to put financial concepts into way that will make sense for contractors and those that work with them. I am not a contractor myself but we rely on these small businesspeople to deliver our programs. The examples were real life and actionable. Would definitely recommend for those that are contractors or that want to get a better understanding of how their businesses work.
Vicki lays out a step-by-step process for any contractor to increase their profits. As a contractor for 30 years I wish I had read this book long ago. Easy to read that covers all the bases. Highly recommended!
This book really simplifies what to focus on to make your business more successful and in turn more profitable. I can see how it would be extremely helpful to many different businesses but since I'm in the construction industry I found it extremely helpful on so many levels.With construction, there's so many different aspects of the business to be concerned with and it's easy to get distracted with all noise. Vicki gives a clear way to remove all the 'non-important' details from our direct attention, yet managing to keep everything under control by managing results and the bigger picture.Having the story of her previous clients as an example throughout the book (from when they first started working with her, to the implementation of her system and in turn transformation of their business), it was a great reference for my own business and what I myself need to work on. I will be keeping this book close by for sometime to come!
I found this book to be easy to read and well laid out! The lessons learned are applicable to business owners and project managers! Definitely would recommend.
Vicki is great at breaking down and simplifying the way a contract should charge based on what their costs are. If you follow her recipe, the profits will be there.This is a quick read, make sure to have your highlighter out and ready.
