I purchased this for a course in Computer Forensics. It is a very well written and easy to understand book. It exposes you to a number of freely available tools that makes jumping right into hands on experimentation easy. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is interesting in Computer Forensics.
If you are interested in this subject this is a good primer for the basics and how to documentation. Nice layout do not have to read from cover to cover
This book is a great extension to the second edition. NOTE: THIS BOOK CONTINUES ON FROM THE SECOND EDITION. This is not a complete rewrite or modifications, this is a continuation which means it references things that Harlan mentions in the Second Edition.With that out of the way this book is great. I read along and I don't get bored, normally I would be bored with books like this but the writing is great so I can follow along easily. The tips and tidbits are great that go with. I highly recommend this book.

Been a fan of Harlan Carvey ever since his first release of Windows Forensic analysis book years ago, this is definitely useful in the sense when forensic analysis is required to be performed on Windows operating systems. The best portion I liked best is on the introduction of different tools used to perform analysis on the artefacts left in the system. With the rolling out of Windows 8 and maybe Windows 9? Windows 10? in the near future, there is always a need to keep up-to-date with the latest techniques required to handle the system.
This book provides insight into forensically looking at Windows with concepts related to such field. I keep the book handy for those quick look up moments.
I needed this book for my forensic class and I was able to find it for a great price. The book is a bit boring the author keeps going off on tangents about his life, instead of teaching
